Who Are Your Top 5?
One of the most revealing exercises I give in my mentorship sessions is surprisingly simple:
List the top five people you interact with the most on a daily basis and rank them from most frequent to least. Then write down how each person makes you feel.
This one exercise can expose everything about how you feel, function, and think. Why?
Because your inner circle shapes your identity.
You don’t just reflect your inner circle, you absorb it.
If you’ve felt off, unmotivated, anxious, or stuck, it may not be you. It may be who you're around. We tend to normalize the people we spend the most time with. But just because something feels familiar doesn’t mean it’s healthy.
When’s the last time you asked yourself:
1. Do I feel more confident or less around them?
2. Are they helping me grow, or keeping me small?
3. Would I choose this relationship if it weren’t already in motion?
Choose your circle wisely.
Reassessing your inner circle isn’t just helpful, it’s necessary. We evolve. Our values shift. And sometimes, the people who fit one version of us no longer align with where we’re going. You don’t need dozens of people around you. You just need the right ones.
If you’re serious about growth, clarity, and leadership, it starts with choosing who gets a seat at your table and having the courage to make changes when needed. Take a moment and list your top five. You might be surprised how closely they align with your current mindset and energy.
